TWO pilots died when a Philippine Navy (PN) training helicopter on Thursday crashed near a public market in Cavite City.
The fatalities were identified as Lt. John Kyle Borres , 36, and ENS Izzah Leonah Taccad, 27, both pilots of the Philippine Navy assigned at the Naval Airwing in Sangley Point, Cavite City.
Borres was declared dead on arrival at the Cavite Medical Center while his co pilot Taccad, died while being treated at the Bautista Hospital in Cavite City.
According to PN spokesperson Commander John Percie Alcos, the Robinson R-22 trainer helicopter with tail number NHT-421 tried to make an emergency landing but crashed near the Cavite City Public Market at about 6 a.m. yesterday.
The Navy chopper took off from Sangley Airport and was conducting a training flight with two officer pilots on board when the incident happened.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the bereaved loved ones. All necessary support will be extended to them,” Alcos said.
The PN spokesperson said a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the crash.
