A BARANGAY chairman and his driver on Tuesday were killed in ambush in San Fernando, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Pampanga police identified the victims as Mat Ryan Dela Cruz, 37, barangay chairman of Bgy. San Pedro, Cutud, San Fernando City, Pampanga; and Henry Aquino, driver, and a resident of Purok 4, Bgy. San Pedro, Cutud.
The ambush occurred at the Power Fill Fuel gas station in Bgy. Del Pilar, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The victims were in a red Montero with plate number WQC 788 driven by Aquino when they stopped at the gas station to refuel.
The unidentified suspects in a car suddenly arrived and opened fire at the victims, killing the village official and his driver on the spot.
The gunmen fled in a black Toyota Vios with plate number NCR 8489/NCR6489 towards San Fernando proper.
Responding lawmen recovered at the crime scene cartridge cases for cal..45 and 5.56mm guns.
Police are pursuing the suspects.
