SENIOR citizens in Cebu City are set to receive free maintenance medicines starting January 2025.
Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia made the announcement on Friday.
Garcia told elders who attended a barangay assembly in the coastal village of Tinago that there are available funds for the program that will benefit over 90,000 seniors.
“That’s why next year, I promise you that we have put in the budget that next year, January, we will start giving daily maintenance medicine,” the mayor said.
“You will not buy those medicines anymore,” he vowed.
Garcia said the program came when many senior citizens asked about it when he visited various barangays.
He said the move aims to alleviate the daily need for maintenance medicines among elders in Cebu City.
