MARCOS CONDEMNS RUSSIA CONCERT HALL ATTACK, DEATH TOLL RISES TO 115

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday joined other world leaders in condemning the attack on a concert hall in Russia that killed more than 100 people.

As of 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the death toll in the attack rose to 115.

The terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility in Friday night’s armed attack carried out by camouflage-clad shooters.

“My deepest condolences to the families affected by this senseless act of terrorism. We stand united in condemning terrorism in all its forms,” President Marcos posted in X (formerly Twitter).

The President said he is profoundly saddened by the innocent lives lost in the horrific ISIS attack at the concert hall in Moscow.

Reports said the mass shooting at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow also injured nearly 200 people.

Intelligence agencies have detained 11 people, including four “terrorists” who were “directly” involved in the attack, Russia’s Federal Security Service said in a statement posted by the TASS Russian News Agency.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), no Filipino was hurt in the incident.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured people speedy recovery,” the DFA said.

While none was affected, it advised the Filipino community in Moscow to undertake the necessary precautions after the attack.

The DFA said at least 10,000 Filipinos live and work in Russia.
