PUBLIC health advocate Dr. Anthony C. Leachon on Tuesday was charged with cyber libel over his alleged malicious accusations against a pharmaceutical company.
Bell-Kenz Pharmaceuticals Inc., through its legal counsels, filed the complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation’s Cybercrime Division.
According to attorney Dezery Perlez, Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. legal counsel and spokesperson, Dr. Leachon’s allegations of “multi-level marketing scheme” against the company are malicious and baseless.
The pharmaceutical company’s legal counsel said the social media post of Dr. Leachon, including the alleged recruitment of several doctors to prescribe their drug products in exchange for a gift of a luxury car and a trip abroad, is malicious and baseless.
Attorney Joseph Vincent Go, another legal counsel for Bell-Kenz, said that the accusations against his client have damaged the integrity and operation of the pharmaceutical company.
Go said the sales of the medicines and other products by the company have been affected by the baseless accusations.
The lawyers reiterated that Bell-Kenz Pharma is a “law-abiding pharmaceutical entity” and complies with all government regulations.
In a Senate hearing last month, Bell-Kenz’s chief executive officer Luis Raymond Go also dismissed the allegations.
