FEMALE RESORT OWNER KILLED IN BATANGAS TOWN HOME

A 73-YEAR-OLD female owner of a resort on Monday was found murdered inside her house in Bgy. Durungao, Bauan, Batangas.

A report submitted to new Batangas Police Provincial Office director Col. Jacinto Malinao Jr. by Bauan Municipal Police Station chief Lt. Col. Nestor Cusi identified the victim as Carmen Maranan, owner of the Maranan Resort at  Sitio Gintuan in Bgy. Durungao, Bauan town.

The victim is the mother of Bgy. Durungao chairman Arnel Maranan.

According to MSG Louie Angelo Manalo of the Tactical Operations Center, based on an initial investigation by Cpl. Kim Edcel Sayco, the victim’s bloodied and lifeless body was discovered at 7:30 a.m. Monday in her house located inside the compound of the Maranan Resort.

“May tama sa ulo ang biktima na posibleng hinampas ng flower vase,” police said.

The victim’s daughter, Jenny Cortez Maranan, found her dead.

Other witnesses said the house was in disarray and the victim’s bag where the resort’s sales collections were kept, was discovered open.

“Ang sabi, may isang CCTV na may nakunan na nakatalukbong na pumasok ng bahay nung biktima noong gabi na mangyari ang krimen,” a village official who requested anonymity, said.

“Ang ipinagtataka ng pamilya, may text gamit ang cellphone ng kanyang ina na nagtatanong ng kombinasyon ng vault na umaga na nung mabasa nung isang anak,” another villager said.

Police are hunting down the suspect.
