PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended his well wishes to former US president Donald Trump, who was rushed offstage due to an assassination attempt during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
“It is with great relief that we receive the news that former President Donald Trump is fine and well after the attempt to assassinate him,” President Marcos said on his official X account (formerly Twitter).
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” the President added.
President Marcos said the Philippines condemns all forms of political violence. He emphasized the supremacy of the voice of the people.
“Together with all democracy loving peoples around the world, we condemn all forms of political violence. The voice of the people must always remain supreme,” President Marcos said.
US authorities are now conducting an investigation on the attempted assassination of Trump, who was reportedly shot and grazed in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.
Trump is the Republican candidate for president.
