FORMER Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson on Monday filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for senator.
He is running as an independent candidate.
Singson, who last served as the mayor of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur from 2019 to 2022, filed his certificate of candidacy at the Manila Hotel Garden City.
According to him, he has two primary objectives in running for senator – to modernize the public transport system and establish the Bangko ng Masa.
He said he will use his own money to finance the production of thousands of electric jeepneys using South Korean technology.
Qualified drivers will not be required to pay down payment, no collateral, and there will be no interest.
Singson eoxplained that the Bangko ng Masa will cater to Filipinos who have no bank accounts, particularly overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Singson ran for senator under Team Unity in 2007 but lost.
