A PHILIPPINE Army cadet on Sunday died while undergoing training in San Jose, Tarlac.
The fatality was identified as cadet Ron Jervy Serafin, 23.
Serafin was a trainee at the Training Command of the Philippine Army located at Camp O’Donnell in Sta. Lucia, Capas, Tarlac.
Maj. Renato Magcamit, who is presently assigned at the Training Command Philippine Army, told the San Jose police that Serafin joined the Graded Tactical Exercise on Waterborne Operation at Moriones Dam in Bgy. Moriones, San Jose, Tarlac.
However, after performing the combat swimming (pack wrapped) activity, the cadet collapsed a few meters away after reaching the end point of the combat swimming lane.
The Army nurse on site immediately administered first aid before the cadet was transported to the Camp O’Donnell Medical Treatment Facility and later transferred to Capas Medical Center in Capas, Tarlac, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
An autopsy is being undertaken on the victim to determine the cause of his death.
