THE director of the Registry of Deeds – Zamboanga City was killed in a broad daylight ambush on Friday.
Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO ) information officer Lt. Col. Paul Andrew Cortez identified the victim as Jaybee Robert Baguinda, 57, head of the city’s Registry of Deeds (ROD).
The ambush occurred around 10:20 a.m. at the entrance gate of the ROD office on Rizal St. in Bgy. Zone 4 in Zamboanga City.
Baguinda was driving his vehicle and about to enter the compound when a lone gunman shot him.
He was rushed to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) but died while undergoing treatment.
Witnesses said the gunman fled on a waiting motorcycle toward Evangelista St. in Bgy. Sta. Catalina.
Police are reviewing CCTV footages and collecting evidence to identify the gunman and the driver of the getaway motorcycle.
