POLICE on Tuesday said that a municipal council candidate and his aide were killed while on their way to vote in Bayang, Lanao del Sur on Monday morning.
Victims Afganie Balt Taha, a town council aspirant, and supporter Walid Balt Taha , a relative and brother of a village official , were shot dead around 8 a.m. in Bgy. Rinabor in Bayang.
Bayang police chief Capt. Edmundo Nabor said the victims were heading to Mauyag Papandayan National High School polling precinct when attacked.
Authorities are pursuing the gunmen.
