THREE members of a family early Sunday morning died in a fire that hit a residential area in San Mateo, Rizal.
In a report submitted to Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) acting regional director Brig. Gen. Jack L. Wanky by the the Rizal police, the fatalities were a 60-year-old woman, her 30-year-old daughter, and the latter’s 28-year-old husband.
The victims were trapped inside their burning house in Bgy. Ampid in San Mateo.
The 64-year-old patriarch of the family survived but sustained injuries after he jumped out of the burning two-storey house.
The elderly man suffered first degree burns and is recuperating at a hospital.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started around 2 a.m. Sunday. The BFP then raised the first alarm.
Firefighters declared a fire out at 2:59 a.m. of the same day.
Authorities are investigating what started the fire and the estimated cost of damage.
