PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday administered the oath of office to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon in Malacañang.
President Marcos also administered the oath of office to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
The President appointed former DOTr Secretary Dizon to replace former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan.
The Chief Executive at the same time named DOTr Undersecretary Lopez to assume the post vacated by Dizon.
In a media interview in Pasay City, President Marcos said he accepted the resignation of Bonoan after the latter took command responsibility for the anomalous flood control projects.
“I think it was Secretary Bonoan who said basically that he took responsibility because… all of these problems happened under his watch,” the President said.
“So, under the principle of command responsibility, he felt that he should leave his post.”
The Chief Executive said he appointed Dizon to lead the DPWH after performing well as DOTr Secretary in initiating improvements and setting up reforms.
“He’s done a very good job sa DOTr. And I think he’s already set the stage for all of the things that we need to do. So, puwede na niyang iwanan and go to Public Works kasi he’s also familiar with the workings of the Department of Public Works and Highways,” said the President.
