DISMISSED Department of Public Works and Highways Bulacan First District engineer Brice Hernandez on Wednesday turned over to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) another luxury car amid the ongoing investigation into flood control project controversies.
Hernandez surrendered his Lamborghini Urus, a luxury sports utility vehicle, worth over P30 million.
The turning over of the luxury SUV came nearly a week after he surrendered to the fact-finding body his GMC Yukon Denali estimated to be worth P12 million.
Hernandez is also expected to turn over a Ferrari.
ICI Special adviser and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the surrender of the luxury vehicles can be considered as a sign of good faith and cooperation on the part of Hernandez.
Hernandez has been under investigation by both the House of Representatives and the Senate for his role in anomalous flood control projects.
Hernandez previously linked Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva to alleged kickbacks in flood control projects in Bulacan. This, however, was denied by the two senators.
In the ongoing Senate inquiry, Hernandez also revealed that he handed over approximately P1 billion in cash packed in 20 suitcases to Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co.
Co, who was the former chairman od the House Committee on Appropriations, left the country in July for a medical leave in the United States.
Meanwhile, Hernandez, along with former DPWH engineers Henry Alcantara, and Jaypee Mendoza, as well as contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya, are now considered “protected witnesses” by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
