BACOLOR, Pampanga – Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Pampanga and the Bacoor police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old man allegedly selling an unlicensed firearm online in an entrapment operation in this town.
CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod identified the suspect as alias “Eras,” a resident of Bgy. Calaylayan, Abucay, Bataan.
“Eras” was arrested at the parking lot of Robinsons Easymart in Bgy. Cabalantian.
Gollod said the suspect was caught while selling an unlicensed firearm to a police who acted as buyer.
Confiscated from the suspect were one .30 rifle, the P1,000 marked money, 269 pieces of P1,000 boodle money, a cellphone used for online transactions, and one utility van with plate number CCJ 1731.
Police said the entrapment was launched after investigators confirmed the suspect’s illegal sale of firearms online.
The suspect was brought to the CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit and will be charged with violation of Section 32 of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
The arrest of the suspect was part of the CIDG’s continuing campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms and online-based illegal arms trading under “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” drive.
