MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Operatives arrested a 20-year-old man accused of raping and nearly killing an 8-year-old girl in Bgy. Sapang Biabas, this city.
Mabalacat City police chief Lt. Col. Efren David reported to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr, that the victim is a Grade 2 student and a resident of Bgy. Sapang Biabas.
The child was assisted by her mother in filing the rape complaint against the suspect before the police.
David identified the suspect as alias “Bino,” 20, a helper, and an elementary school undergraduate who hailed from Aklan, Visayas but currently resides in the same village.
Initial investigation showed the victim’s mother on October 19 noticed that her daughter was missing from their home.
Despite an immediate search within their neighborhood, she failed to locate her child.
The following morning, the mother sought help from barangay officials to review the CCTV footage of a nearby Pisonet shop where the victim was last seen.
CCTV footage showed the suspect tapping the victim on her shoulder before both were seen leaving the area together.
Upon identifying the suspect from the footage, barangay officials immediately went to his house to ask about the girl’s whereabouts.
Police said “Bino” admitted bringing the victim to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
With the help of NLEX personnel, village officials conducted a search operation and found the victim weak and with multiple injuries.
The child was rushed to the Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) for medical treatment and evaluation.
A hospital staff member said the girl told them she was taken by the suspect to the NLEX, where the suspect allegedly raped her then banged her head against the wall.
Barangay officials arrested the suspect and later turned him over to the Mabalacat City police
Authorities said the suspect will be charged with statutory rape and frustrated homicide in relation to violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
