“AKO ang nagsimula nitong lahat. Ako ang magtatapos.”
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Friday that former Ako Bicol Party-List Rep. Zaldy Co and 17 others face warrants of arrest after they were indicted on graft charges in connection with flood control corruption.
In a message on his official social media account, President Marcos said warrants of arrest have been issued against Co and 17 other individuals from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Sunwest Corporation.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed charges against Co and 17 others based on the evidence gathered by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the DPWH, said the President.
“Hindi po ito haka-haka. Hindi po ito kuwento. Ito po ay tunay na ebidensya,” said the President.
President Marcos said law enforcement authorities will serve the arrest warrants against those charged, who will not be given special treatment.
President Marcos said the investigation will continue in order to hold accountable those who illegally profited from anomalous flood control and other infrastructure projects.
The President during the Fourth State of the Nation Address last July 28 denounced the massive corruption in flood control projects and created the ICI last September 11 to pursue the investigation into irregularities in flood control as well as other government infrastructure projects during the last 10 years.
