AFTER undergoing medical quarantine for a week, former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Tuesday joined in one cell six other inmates at the New Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory in Bgy. Payatas.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said the former senator is sharing a prison cell with six other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who are not connected to the P92.8 million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
Revilla and his co-accused in the graft and malversation cases filed before the Sandiganbayan were all transferred to regular detention cells at the New Quezon City Jail.
His co-accused, Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, Arjay Domasig and Juanito Mendoza are staying in other cells.
Revilla and his co-respondents in the case were quarantined for seven days before they joined the jail’s population of about 3,600 inmates.
The two other co-accused, Emelita Juat and Christina Pineda, are detained at the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory in Camp Karingal, Quezon City.
BJMP spokesperson and Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said heightened security measures remain in place due to the high-profile nature of the case.
Revilla and the other inmates are staying in a 48-square meter detention cell, with five double-deck beds, two electric fans, a common lavatory, and wash area.
Each jail cell can accommodate a maximum of 10 inmates.
The BJMP said the inmates are not allowed to have cellphones and other gadgets.
It added that detainees have a budget of P100 each for their daily meals but their relatives are allowed to bring cooked food during visiting hours.
Before the transfer, Revilla received a visit from family members and close friends led by his wife, Cavite 2nd district Rep. Lani Mercado, and their sons, Cavite 1st district Rep. Jolo Revilla and AGIMAT Party-list Rep. Bryan Revilla.
