A SUSPECT was killed while two civilians were injured when a drug buy-bust operation on Tuesday ended in a gunfight in Kawit, Cavite.
Prior to the encounter, operatives of the Bacoor PNP under the supervision of Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito, chief of the Bacoor police, conducted an entrapment operation against alias “Tol,” of Bgy. San Nicolas 3, Bacoor City, Cavite.
The suspect was reportedly involved in illegal drug activities.
Authorities said that while the drug transaction is ongoing in Bgy. Kaingen, Digman, Bacoor, the suspect sensed the presence of police officers and fired a gun before fleeing in a vehicle towards the direction of Kawit.
Operatives of the Bacoor PNP gave chase until the suspect rammed a patrol car and several other vehicles on Kawit–Cavite Road, injuring two civilians.
The suspect again fired a gun at pursuing officers.
Upon reaching Marulas Bridge, Bgy. Marulas in Kawit, the suspect allegedly fired another shot, resulting in the exchange of gunfire.
In the ensuing encounter, the suspect sustained gunshot wounds that caused his instantaneous death.
Meanwhile, the injured civilians — one from Bgy. Kaingen and the other from Bgy. Tabon 2—were given first aid by personnel of the Kawit Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. The duo were then brought to the hospital for further treatment.
