OPERATIVES of the Philippine National Police have intensified their hunt for the killers of a policewoman and her son whose bodies were found dumped in separate areas in Pulilan, Bulacan and Victoria, Tarlac.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Diana Marie Mollenido, who was assigned with the NCRPO Regional Personnel and Records Management Division, was found with a gunshot wound in the head while her 8-year-old son, John Ysmael, died of asphyxia by suffocation.
The policewoman’s body was found wrapped in cloth, placed inside a black garbage bag, and covered with plastic .
The son was also found wrapped in a black garbage bag.
Both the mother and her son went missing since January 16 until their bodies were found separately in Bulacan and Tarlac.
The decomposing body of the policewoman was discovered along the Pulilan–Baliuag Bypass Road in Pulilan, Bulacan while her son was found in a calamansi farm in Victoria Tarlac.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. assured justice for the slain cop and her son.
The top cop mobilized all available resources to resolve the brutal twin murder as he ordered the National Capital Region Police and the Police Regional Office 3 to prioritize the case.
Victoria police chief Maj. Marty A. Calara said the body of the boy was discovered at a calamansi farm owned by barangay captain Sandy Torres.
On Friday, the slain policewoman’s estranged husband John positively identified the body found in a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac as his son.
The discovery of the young boy’s body came days after the decomposing body of his mother was discovered in Pulilan on January 25.
Two “persons of interest” are being investigated in the gruesome murder of the Mollenidos. One is the husband of the victim who is also a police officer while the other is the agent of the policewoman’s car.
Authorities are investigating if robbery has something to do with the killing since the policewoman was carrying some P400,000 on the time she and her son disappeared.
Meanwhile, Nartatez has ordered the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to handle the case.
Probers were assigned to gather all available CCTV footages and interview multiple witnesses to solve the twin killing.
