TRANSPORTATION Security Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz on Wednesday led the inspection of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and the Manila North Harbor Port (MNHP).
The inspection of the major transportation facilities was in compliance with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure a safe, orderly, and efficient travel for the public, especially with the observance of Semana Santa.
Cruz was accompanied by OTS key officers and auditors during the visit .
The activity, conducted simultaneously with the ongoing security inspections by deployed OTS auditors in major transport hubs, is aimed at ensuring the strict implementation of safety and security measures for passengers, personnel, and public transport operators within the terminal, in line with the ongoing OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos Semana Santa 2026 under the directive of Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez.
During the inspection at NAIA Terminal 3, the OTS, together with NAIA Special Assistant to the SMC President and CEO on Security-Related Matters Ramon A. Ragasa and other stakeholders, visited the overseas Filipino workers’ lane and lounge to check passenger welfare and promote safe, secure, and convenient travel.
An actual demonstration of two newly commissioned Explosive Detection Systems using Computed Tomography Technology with Automatic Tray Return System was also conducted, highlighting the capabilities of advanced security screening equipment to boost the efficiency, accuracy, and speed of security screening operations.
Following the inspection at the airport, the OTS team proceeded to PITX and then to MNHP to continue with the inspection, ensuring the consistent implementation of security protocols in anticipation of increased passenger volume during Semana Santa.
As part of the initiative, Cruz also distributed Go Bags and informational materials to traveling passengers, aimed to promote preparedness, awareness, and adherence to security and safety protocols.
“The safety and convenience of the traveling public remain our top priority, especially during peak travel periods such as Semana Santa. We will continue to intensify our monitoring and enforcement efforts to uphold the highest standards of security across all transport facilities,” Cruz said.
