CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — An alleged illegal numbers game operator was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit 3 in an entrapment operation in Tarlac.
According to CIDG RFU3 chief Col. Grant Gollod, the operation was part of the intensified effort against illegal gambling.
Members of the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit and the Concepcion Municipal Police Station conducted “OPLAN Bolilyo” at the Concepcion Public Market in Bgy. San Nicolas (Pob.), Concepcion.
Arrested was alias “Niel,” 62, a sales supervisor or “kabo,” while engaging in illegal numbers game operations locally known as “STL bookies,” in violation of Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287.
The suspect was an authorized Small Town Lottery representative but allegedly used the STL authorized agent system as a front for illegal lotteries and unauthorized betting operations not sanctioned by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), in violation of Section 26 of the STL Implementing Rules and Regulations.
Seized from the suspect were a marked P50 bill, betting receipts, used and unused “papelitos,” a black ballpen, authorized betting slips, and P2,745 in alleged bet collections.
Alias “Niel” was brought to the CIDG Tarlac PFU office for documentation and proper disposition.
Gollod reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against illegal gambling.
