FILIPINA tennis star Alex Eala on Sunday, June 12, arrived in Manila following her historic campaign at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.
The 21-year-old tennis ace arrived before noon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
She was welcomed by Philippine Sports Commission chairman Patrick Gregorio, Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and PHILTA Secretary General John Rey Tiangco.
Upon her arrival at the international airport, Eala was greeted by a drum and lyre band and an LED screen displaying the message, “Congratulations! We are proud of you.”
The Pinay tennis sensation returned home after an impressive Wimbledon run that captured the attention of tennis fans around the world and inspired Filipinos with her breakthrough performance on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
Eala became the first Filipina in the Open Era to reach the fourth round of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament.
