FORMER Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Friday night was temporarily released from jail after the Sandiganbayan Third Division granted his bail petition in connection with the malversation charges filed against him.
Revilla was temporarily freed from the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory at 6:14 p.m. on Friday after posting a P1 million cash bond.
The former senator had been detained due to charges of malversation and graft in connection with his alleged involvement in a ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan worth P92.8 million.
However, the court denied the bail petition of Revilla’s co-accused former Department of Public Works (DPWH) engineer Brice Hernandez and other DPWH officials.
In its ruling the Anti-graft Court said it approved the bail petition over the prosecution’s failure to establish strong evidence of guilt against Revilla during the proceedings.
