THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday announced that it will suspend the implementation of the expanded number coding scheme during the Yuletide season.
In an advisory, the MMDA said number coding will be lifted on December 24-Christmas Eve (special non-working holiday), December 25 – Christmas Day (regular holiday), December 30 – Rizal Day (regular holiday), December 31 – last day of the year (special non-working holiday), and January 1, 2025 – New Year’s Day (regular holiday)
The MMDA said there are now more cars on the road as people rush to go on vacation and celebrate Christmas.
According to the agency, motorists are already experiencing the peak of holiday traffic in Metro Manila.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) earlier said it expects the holiday road, terminal and port congestion to last until mid-January 2025.
