MORE than P7 million worth of shabu hidden in vacuum cleaner and rice cooker from Malaysia was seized by operatives of the Bureau of Customs-Clark, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 3 (PDEA3) at the Port of Clark in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
In a report to BOC Port of Clark chief Jairus Reyes, the package, which content was declared as vacuum cleaner with set of rice cooker, was shipped from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and consigned to alias JM of Molino, Bacoor, Cavite.
The parcel arrived at the FedEx Warehouse, Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat.
Upon inspection by members of the PDEA R3 Clark International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, BOC-Port of Clark Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force, PNP Aviation Security Unit 3, and PNP Drug Enforcement Group, the vacuum cleaner yielded 14 plastic sachets of shabu weighing at least 538 grams wrapped in a brown packaging tape.
Found inside two rice cookers were some 12 plastic sachets of shabu weighing at least 574 grams.
The seized illegal drugs were valued at P7,561,000.
Samples of the confiscated shabu will be submitted to the PDEA3 laboratory for confirmatory test and safekeeping.
An investigation is ongoing.
