TORRE STARTS TRAINING FOR BOXING MATCH WTH ‘BASTE’ DUTERTE

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III has accepted Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte’s challenge for a fistfight.

However, the PNP chief said he wanted it to be a charity boxing match.

On Thursday, the PNP chief went straight to training at the PNP gym for a possible charity boxing match with Mayor Duterte.

After his boxing practice, Torre told reporters that a venue – the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila – has actually been set up on Sunday, July 27,in case Duterte accepts his challenge.

“Anytime, I am ready. Now if he’s not there, we will just continue with our activity of giving ayuda to our kababayans,” Torre said.

Torre, 54, admitted he is no longer strong but to give his “kababayans” some sort of entertainment, he accepted Duterte’s challenge.

He said he made some refresher on what he used to do.

The country’s top cop said he saw the challenge an opportunity to raise funds for the victims of the onslaught of the enhanced habagat.

Last Sunday, in his podcast, the Davao City mayor challenged Torre to a fistfight.

It can be recalled that in March this year, it was Torre who led the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, the father of “Baste,” on charges of crimes against humanity, which included extrajudicial killings.

The elder Duterte was flown to the Netherlands for trial. His arrest was based on a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
