A CANTEEN owner on Saturday was shot dead by motorcycle-riding armed men in front of his wife in Bgy. Las Piñas, Peñaranda, Nueva Ecija.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., the Nueva Ecija police identified the victim as Neil Patrick dela Cruz, 52, a resident of Purok 7, Bgy. Las Piñas, Peñaranda.
Prior to the kllling, the victim and his wife were eating outside their canteen when two men on a motorcycle wearing black jacket, helmet and facemask stopped in front of them.
The suspects pulled out a gun and fired shots at the victim before fleeing.
Patrolling police officers responded to the incident and found the bloodied victim on the pavement.
Police rushed the victim to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities are reviewing the CCTV in the area for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.
