CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Different groups in Nueva Ecija and Bulacan on Sunday, Sept. 21, held protest actions to denounce corruption in government.
In Nueva Ecija, members of the Scout Royal Brotherhood (SRB) Alumni Association-Cabanatuan Chapter conducted a motorcade from the municipality of Sta. Rosa to Cabanatuan City.
The Ecija group led by Manuel Lacanilao Santos gathered at the Enchanted MS Garcia Events Place where they called for an end to corruption while also celebrating the anniversary of SRB.
Participants arrived at the venue around 10:35 a.m..
At least 100 members took part in the activity, which extended until past 12:40 p.m..
In Bulacan, members of KASAMA BulSU and BulSU Bahaghari staged a protest rally beginning with a unity walk from the Malolos Cathedral to the Bulacan Capitol Grounds.
The activity, spearheaded by Lovely Vasquez of KASAMA BulSU, included a “Misa ng Dalangin at Pananagutan,” a general assembly, and a march dubbed “Martsa ng Masa Kontra Korapsyon” that also raised grievances on alleged ghost flood control projects.
The unity walk started at 8:40 a.m., with about 500 protesters joining.
The crowd gradually thinned as the program wrapped up at 10:36 a.m., leaving around 200 individuals at the Capitol grounds.
Around 1 p.m., the area was completely cleared of protesters following monitoring by the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) contingent.
According to police, the activities in both provinces were generally peaceful.
