LAGUNA Gov. Sol Aragones on Friday ordered the demolition of an old school in the province deemed unsafe.
Citing safety risks, the governor directed the knocking down of the 67-year-old classrooms at Calo Elementary School in Bay town.
Aragones conducted an ocular inspection of the school built in 1958, where she observed cramped classrooms and learned about recurring flooding during heavy rains.
“We saw here that the classrooms are very old,” Aragones said.
The governor stressed tbe urgency of replacing the hazardous structures.
Provincial engineer Gil Agarri led technical inspections to assess structural integrity and plan new construction, including a multi-storey building.
The governor said they will fix the problem right away by constructing a new school building.
