CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s (CIDG’s) “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” has sent to jail two suspected illegal firearms sellers in Tarlac and Pampanga.
CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod said the operations were part of intensified efforts to curb illegal gunrunning activities in Central Luzon.
Arrested in the first operation conducted at a fastfood branch in Cut-Cut 1st, Tarlac City was alias “Lau,” 34, a security guard and a resident of Moncada, Tarlac.
The gun buy-bust operation was led by the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit (PFU) headed by Maj. Arvin Hosmillo, with support from the Provincial Intelligence Team Tarlac-Regional Intelligence Unit 3, and the Tarlac City police.
The suspect was caught while allegedly selling a firearm to a police poseur-buyer.
Seized were a .45 Colt pistol, five live ammunition for cal. .45 gun, a magazine for cal. .45 pistol, and the marked and boodle money.
The operation stemmed from information provided by a confidential informant who reported the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal gunrunning activities in Tarlac province prompting surveillance and the sting.
In a separate operation, CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with Mexico police, arrested another suspect in Bgy. San Jose Matulid, Mexico, Pampanga.
Nabbed was alias “Nac,” 43, of Bgy. San Jose, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
The suspect yielded a .45 Colt pistol, one steel magazine assembly for cal. .45 gun, five live bullets for cal. .45 pistol, and the marked and boodle money.
Charges for violation of Section 32 of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act were filed against the arrested suspects.
Gollod said the CIDG will continue its intensified operations against individuals engaged in the illegal sale and distribution of firearms in the region.
