SIX people died in a fire that hit a residential area in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, police reported on Tuesday.
Authorities said among those who perished in the fire that gutted two houses in Zone 2, Bgy. Nancayasan were a 72-year-old female, a 59-year-old female, two males in their 40s and two 11-year-old females.
An investigation showed the fire started at around 2 a.m. on Monday.
Personnel of the Urdaneta City Police Station received a call about the fire at 3 a.m. of the same day and immediately coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Neighbors told police that the victims were trapped inside the burning houses.
The BFP declared a fire out at about 4:49 a.m.
An investigation is ongoing on what caused the fire. The cost of damage is yet to be determined.
