The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday announced that an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) has been issued against former Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin and other members of the basketball team’s coaching staff.
The ILBO was issued amid the ongoing investigation into the deaths of Ateneo Blue Eagle’s men basketball players Rene Clert Baterbonia, 19, and Nigerian student-athlete Divine Adili, 21,
Baterbonia and Adili reportedly drowned during a team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora.
According to DOJ Sec. Fredderick Vida. aside from Baldwin, the ILBO also covers former Ateneo team manager Christopher “Epok” Quimpo, Reynaldo Jacinto Jr., Dean Castaño and Sandro Soriano.
As this developed, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said that the deaths of the two basketball players were not “accidental.’
The CIDG said they are looking into possible hazing or homicide angles in the incident.
On Wednesday, several Ateneo players appeared before separate probes of the CIDG and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to shed light on the incident.
