CIDG NABS 2 MEN IN NUEVA ECIJA GUN BUY-BUST

OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Sunday arrested two men in a gun buy-bust operation in Bgy. Curva, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.

Arrested were alias Luis, 58, and alias Ver, 29, both residents of  Bagong Barrio, Nauzon, Laur, Nueva Ecija.

According to CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 chief Col. Grant Gollod, the entrapment, carried out unde “OPLAN Paglalansag Omega” drive, was led by the CIDG Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit, in coordination with the Bongabon police.

Gollod said the suspects were arrested after they accepted the marked buy-bust money and handed over a firearm to an undercover police officer posing as a buyer.

Confiscated during the operation were a caliber .45 pistol, one magazine assembly, eight rounds of live caliber .45 ammunition, a black sling bag, and the marked and boodle money used in the operation.

The arrested suspects were taken to the CIDG Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Gollod said the successful operation underscores CIDG’s continuing campaign against the illegal trade of firearms aimed at preventing their use in criminal activities and ensuring public safety.
