FOUR members of a family on Tuesday died in a fire that hit a townhouse in Quezon City,
Police identified the victims as Roberto Aquino, 64; his wife Alona, 61, their daughter Mercedes, and a 17-year-old girl.
Authorities said the victims died of suffocation and severe burns.
The four were found in the comfort room of the two-storey townhouse located in Bgy. Bahay Touro.
One of the victims’ relatives managed to escape the raging blaze and was brought to the hospital for treatment of burnt wounds.
An investigation showed prior to the fire, a neighbor heard an explosion from the house of the victims.
The blaze immediately spread and engulfed the entire house.
The fire reached first alarm at 4:45:33 p.m., was placed under control at 5:05:08 p.m., and was completely extinguished at 5:11:04 p.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Initial investigation points to an e-bike charger as the possible source of the fire.
