LAWYER CALLS FOR PROBE INTO ALLEGED ILLEGAL STL OPERATIONS IN QC

A LAWYER  has called for a thorough investigation into allegations of allegedly unauthorized Small Town Lottery (STL) betting stations and machines operating in Quezon City.

According to attorney Ariel Inton, authorities should determine whether certain STL operations in the city are presenting themselves as legitimate despite allegedly lacking the necessary permits or authorization from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

The lawyer has sought to verify the reported use of so-called “cloned” STL machines, as well as the operation of betting stations allegedly without proper authorization.

Inton reiterated the need to examine the relevant documents, permits, ownership structures, and actual operations of the STL operators concerned to determine whether any violations of PCSO rules and regulations have occurred.

He said that if substantiated, the allegations could have implications for legitimate STL operators, bettors, and government revenues.

However, Inton emphasized that allegations against any individual or company must first undergo proper verification and a formal investigation before any party is held accountable.

As of this posting, an official response from the PCSO and other concerned authorities regarding the allegations is still being awaited.
