CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3’s (PRO3’s) intensified Accounting and Disposition of Firearms with Expired Registration (ADFER) campaign has accounted for 1,332 firearms across Central Luzon in the first 13 days of October.
According to PRO3, 1,292 firearms were deposited for safekeeping while 40 others were voluntarily surrendered to police authorities from Oct. 1 to 13.
The campaign seeks to ensure that firearms with expired registrations are properly accounted for, encouraging responsible gun owners to comply with existing regulations and helping prevent the loss, illegal transfer or misuse of firearms.
PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez said the initiative focuses on prevention and community safety through sustained police monitoring and voluntary compliance among firearm holders.
“Each firearm that is properly accounted for helps reduce the risk of it being lost, transferred unlawfully, or misused,” Mendez said.
The official the accomplishment to the persistence of police personnel and the willingness of responsible firearm owners to comply with regulations.
“We will continue working with our communities to keep firearms properly documented and under appropriate control,” Mendez said.
The firearms accounting drive complements PRO3’s broader crime prevention efforts, including increased police visibility and focused law enforcement operations to address threats to peace and order in Central Luzon.
The initiative is also aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly its thrusts on stronger law enforcement, risk management and responsive police service.
PRO3 said it would continue monitoring compliance and coordinating with firearm holders and police units throughout the region as the campaign progresses.
