OPERATIVES of the National Capital Region Police Office arrested in Olongapo City a 36-year-old man who has gained notoriety for stealing the identities of top Metro Manila police officials to solicit money
Suspect Darell John Green was caught by members of the NCRPO Regional Special Operations Division-Regional Intelligence Division in Bgy. Barreto, Olongapo City on the strength of a warrant for robbery issued by Judge Ambrosio de Luna of the Lipa City Regional Trial Court Branch 12.
The court recommended a P60,000 bail for the temporary liberty of the accused who was found to have stolen the identities of NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan and former Pasay City Police Station chief Col. Froilan Uy by creating fake Facebook accounts to victimize many people.
The man was found to be behind the creation of several fake “General Nartatez” accounts on various social media platforms to solicit money from his targets and engaged in fraudulent online activities.
The NCRPO said that the suspect’s whereabouts was traced following a cyber-patrolling, which enabled investigators to search for his address, and find out his social media friends and other contacts.
Investigators also found out that Green has standing warrants of arrest for robbery, three counts of qualified theft and a “service of sentence” for a theft case.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (computer-related identity theft) and estafa were filed in court against the arrested suspect.
