PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. tested positive for Covid-19, Malacañang on Tuesday (December 5) said.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the President will be under isolation for five days.
“President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos has tested positive for Covid-19. Upon medical advice, he will observe a period of isolation for five days,” the PCO said.
The PCO added that the President remains fit to carry out his duties and will be continuing his scheduled meetings via teleconference.
“Updates on his health will be provided as available,” it added.
The PCO said Marcos encouraged the public over the holiday season “to take precautions to safeguard their health, such as vaccinating and voluntary mask-wearing when entering crowded places.”
This is the third time the President has contracted the coronavirus disease. He last tested positive for Covid-19 in July 2020.
His first bout with Covid-19 was in March 2020 during the height of the pandemic.
