MORE than a hundred patients were evacuated to safety when a fire on Wednesday hit the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Padre Faura St. in Manila.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said the fire started at 3:24 p.m. and reached third alarm.
The fire engulfed PGH’s Medical Supplies Room and Surgery Room.
The blaze was put under control at 3:45 p.m..
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared “fire out” at 4:30 p.m. on the same day.
According to the University of the Philippines-Manila, all patients were evacuated on time and were safe. They were being attended to by the PGH medical staff.
“All DOH hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been alerted and are prepared to accommodate patients,” the health department’s statement read.
