THE mayor of Daraga, Albay wanted for the 2018 assassination of Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe and his policeman-bodyguard on Tuesday was arrested by combined operatives of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Police Regional Office 5.
Mayor Carlwyn Baldo, a resident of Bgy. Tagas in Daraga, was caught on Nuyda Ave St., Camalig, Albay around 12:45 a.m. yesterday.
Members of the CIDG Albay Provincial Field Unit, the Camalig and Daraga Municipal Police Stations and the Regional Intelligence Unit 5 arrested the suspect.
Police Regional Office 5 director Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon said the co-accused of the Daraga mayor are still being hunted as of press time.
Baldo was arrested on the strength of a warrant for two counts of murder issued by Judge Acerey C. Pacheco of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 3 last August 21.
Batocabe and his bodyguard, Police Senior Master Sergeant Orlando Diaz, were killed during a Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party in Bgy. Burgos in Daraga on December 22, 2018.
