AUTHORITIES declared that the chemical spill in Bauan, Batangas is now under control.
Fifty-three families or a total of 248 individuals who were affected by the chemical spill in Bauan town have now been able to return to their homes.
“The recent chemical spill in Batangas is now under control, and all evacuees have safely returned to their homes. Immediate containment and cleanup operations were conducted along the affected shoreline,” Civil Defense administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno said.
“According to reports, the chemical has naturally dissipated. We express our gratitude to the local government units, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for their prompt response to the incident,” he added.
On November 4, 2023, more than 50 families in the coastal area of Bgy. San Miguel were evacuated due to the chemical spill.
