A FILIPINA was arrested in Tokyo, Japan for allegedly abandoning the bodies of a Japanese couple.
According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), they are already extending legal assistance to Hazel Ann Morales.
DMW officer-in-charge Hans Cacdac said they informed the Japanese authorities that they will provide legal and other necessary assistance to the accused Pinay.
He said the DMW is in touch with Philippine Ambassador Mylene Garcia-Albano for the next step to be taken to assist Morales.
Reports from Japan indicated that Morales was arrested on suspicion of abandoning the bodies of Japanese couple Norihiro and Kimie Takahashi.
The Takahashis were found in their home with stab wounds.
Cacdac said they are verifying if Morales is a migrant worker or a permanent resident of Japan.
The DMW official also assured the Morales family of assistance.
