ASSASSINS KILL ECIJA TOWN COUNCILOR

RIDING-IN-TANDEM armed men on Thursday shot dead a municipal councilor of San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.

A report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. by the Nueva Ecija police identified the victim as Roberto Carpio, the no. 1 elected municipal councilor of San Antonio, and a resident of Purok 4, Bgy. Luyos, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.

Carpio was driving a motorcycle on way to San Antonio proper when upon reaching Purok 8 in  Bgy. Sto. Cristo,  two men on another motorbike suddenly appeared and shot him several times in the head.

The councilor died while being rushed to the hospital by his son.

Police immediately launched “Oplan Bakod” and cordoned off  the crime scene while checking the CCTV footages at the nearby establishment to identify the gunmen.
