A SUPPOSED happy picnic turned into tragedy when an eight-year-old girl drowned during a family outing on Labor Day at Dupinga River in Bgy. Malinao, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Nueva Ecija police identified the victim as Raign, of Bgy. Tagumpay, Gabaldon town.
According to the victim’s grandmother, they went to the river for a picnic. Minutes later, she noticed that her granddaughter was missing.
The grandma was told that the victim went for a swim. An hour later, a rescuer found the victim under the river.
The young girl was rushed to the Gabaldon Medicare Community Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival by an attending physician.
