PDEA CONFIDENTIAL REPORT: ‘HINDI KO HO ALAM ‘YUNG TUNGKOL SA DOKUMENTO’ –MARICEL SORIANO

ACTRESS Maricel Soriano on Tuesday denied before the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs that she has knowledge on the alleged leaked confidential report of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Soriano was invited in the Senate to shed light on the said “PDEA leaks.”

“Unang-una po hindi ko ho alam ‘yung tungkol sa mga dokumento. Nalaman ko na lang ‘yan nu’ng pinakita sa akin dahil hindi po ako nagbabasa ng mga ganyan. Wala po akong alam,” she said when asked if there was a truth in the said PDEA documents.

According to her, she was puzzled why she was invited to the hearing on the alleged PDEA “leak documents” signed by ex-PDEA intelligence officer Jonathan Morales linking Soriano and President Ferdinand “Bongbong Marcos” Jr. to illegal drugs.

The alleged PDEA pre-operation report dated March 11, 2012 indicated that “a group of showbiz and politically affluent personalities are frequently using illegal drugs” inside a condominium in Makati City.

Soriano confirmed that the condo unit was hers but was already sold in 2012.

“Opo, hanggang 2012 po. Nabenta ko na ho ‘yun. Wala na ako dun,” she said.

In the same hearing, Morales said he already forgot the name of the confidential informant who gave him the information about the personalities allegedly linked to illegal drugs.

Morales’ credibility as a resource person was questioned by Senator Jinggoy Estrada when he said he could not remember anymore that name of the confidential informant.

Estrada was agitated with Morales’ reply, saying the latter was destroying the reputation of the individuals that he tagged in the report.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri reminded his colleagues to be careful in the conduct of public inquiries, which he said should not be used for political persecution.

The Senate leader issued the reminder during a press briefing after monitoring the public hearing conducted by the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs chaired by Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa where he noted “very serious accusations have been made” without evidence.

“While certain claims were made, documentary evidence is yet to be presented. There were no pictures, no corroborating testimonies. In other words, this was solely based on the testimony of one person based on what appears to be hearsay evidence,” said Zubiri.
