23 NUEVA ECIJA CITIES, TOWNS ADOPT MARKET DIGITALIZATION

THREE cities and 20 municipalities in Nueva Ecija have adopted the Department of Trade and Industry’s market digitalization program (MDP).

NE-DTI chief Dr. Richard Simangan identified the local government units which already complied with the program as the three cities of Cabanatuan, San Jose and Palayan, and the towns of San Antonio, Cuyapo, Nampicuan, Aliaga, Rizal, Zaragosa, Gabaldon, Santa Rosa, Bongabon, Guimba, Lupao, Talugtog, Carranglan, Quezon, Talavera, Licab, Santo Domingo, Pantabangan, CABIAO and San Isidro. 

Simangan said the MDP started in 2022.

He urged market administrators to convert their price watch boards into electronic mode to make it more accessible to consumers.

According to Simangan, the LGUs were also enjoined to use QR codes for consumers for them to able to see and check the prevailing price of commodities in public markets by just scanning the items.

Also included in the program is the Paleng-QR Ph Plus of the Central Bank of the Philippines, which is a major criteria in the search for the annual Pinakamaringal na Pamilihang- Bayan award.

“Both of these programs are being launched simultaneously to encourage consumers and businesses to use digital payments for easy transactions,” the NE-DTI chief added.
