TWO teenage students on Sunday drowned while swimming with friends in a river in Angat, Bulacan.
According to a report submitted to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. by the Bulacan police, the victims were identified as Jonathan James Retobado, 15; and Jerome Chavez, 19, both residents of Sitio Buga, Sta. Elena, Hagonoy, Bulacan.
Investigation showed the victims, along with two other companions Raymond Ceñido, 18, and John Patrick Renzales, 9, of Bgy. Sta. Cruz, Angat, went to Angat river located at Sitio Pugpog, Bgy. Santa Cruz for a swim.’
Retobado and Chavez were enjoying the water when they were carried away by a strong water current.
The bodies of the victims were retrieved by concerned citizens. They were brought to the Angat Rural Health Unit, through the help of the Angat Rescue Team, but the duo were declared dead upon arrival.
