OPERATIVES of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a French-British man found to be in violation of immigration laws in Baguio City.
Personnel of the BI’s Intelligence Division reported the arrest of Morris James Hamey, 42, at the Baguio City Jail Male Dorm.
Hamey, also known by several aliases, was arrested for illegal entry and for being undocumented, and had previously been convicted under the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591).
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Bgy. Agus, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, BI agents arrested two Korean nationals identified as Park Jungkwan, 52, and Lee Sang Bae, 46.
The operation was conducted in coordination with the Philippine National Police Station 4.
Park was the subject of a warrant of deportation issued by the BI last month.
Lee was also found in the vicinity during the arrest, and upon verification, it was found that he was also an overstaying alien.
Additionally, operatives discovered that Lee is a fugitive from justice, and has been wanted by the BI since 2019.
Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. said: “Our operatives’ diligence and coordination with local authorities were crucial in apprehending these individuals and upholding the integrity of our immigration system.”
Manahan said all three aliens have been transferred to the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending their deportation.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco praised the successful operations, stating: “These arrests underscore our commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring that foreign nationals comply with our legal requirements.”
