CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga –The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has a new top cop in the person of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan.
Maranan, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) “Patnubay” Class of 1995, was named by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil to lead the Central Luzon police.
Maranan replaced Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. of PNPA “Tagapagkalinga” Class of 1991, who became the PRO3 director in February 2023.
Hidalgo officially retired from the police service effective October 1. He is reportedly eyeing an elective post in next year’s mid-term elections.
The PNP chief led the change of command Tuesday at the PRO3 PATROL Hall in this camp, marking a significant transition for the Central Luzon police.
Maranan was given formal arrival honors, a demonstration of respect and high regard from the PRO3 personnel.
In his address, Maranan expressed his excitement about working with the officers and personnel of the Central Luzon police, pledging to continue the region’s progress in fighting crime.
He stressed the importance of following the chief PNP’s directives and committed to strengthening anti-criminality efforts.
“We will align with the chief PNP’s program: “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Ka,” and step-up our anti-criminality initiatives, especially in combating illegal drugs and criminal gangs, as we approach the 2025 mid-term elections,” the new Central Luzon top cop said.
He said it is crucial to maintain and surpass the accomplishments of the previous leadership as he emphasized the need for public safety and peace in Central Luzon.
Prior to his appointment as PR03 director, Maranan was the director of the QCPD. He also served as deputy district director for operations at the QCPD, and was the former chief of the PNP Public Information Office (PIO).
